As part of its ongoing commitment to southeast Louisiana, Wal-Mart opened its first Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in the greater New Orleans area on Wednesday, April 12. Doors opened at 7 a.m., followed by a grand opening celebration at 7:30 a.m.
In the past few months, Wal-Mart has re-opened several stores that were closed by the hurricanes, including the relocation of its Plaquemine store to a new Supercenter and re-opening its Tchoupitoulas and Harvey stores last month.More than 176 million customers visit the more than 6,000 Wal-Mart stores around the globe each week.
The new store is re-converted and opened on Wednesday. It will be the second Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in Louisiana. The first opened in Baton Rouge in January 2004.
